We installed this front yard garden in December ’09 in a scramble to have it completed for Chrismas Day. It was a great way to cap off an exciting year at Valle de Verde…and an even better prelude to my annual 2-week sabbatical.
Although a small site, it was a formidable one riddled with technical & spatial problems. Poor drainage, unacceptable soil, unsightly surrounding views, trash bin access route issues, and a homeowner’s desire for some privacy all factored into the design.
Plants in the garden include Stipa, Verbena bonariensis, Helichrysum ‘Limelight’, Rosemary, Neomarica, Echeveria, Ficus nitida, and a fruitless Olive tree.
These photos of the garden were taken yesterday.
